CS:GO IEM Katowice Major Betting Picks

CS:GO IEM Katowice Major Betting Picks

We got off to a hot star in our ESports betting picks last week as we took a look at the CS:GO IEM Katowice Main Qualifier tournament, hitting on 2/2 picks at good value. We will look to continue the form this week as the IEM Katowice Major officially gets underway on Thursday morning (ET) with a fantastic slate of Round 1 games.

We’ll be back throughout the stages of the tournament with betting picks for specific stages and games, but for today we’ll take a look at the tournament as a whole and provide some future tips.

2019 CS:GO IEM Katowice Betting Picks

After winning the last major and going on an unprecedented run of tournament wins since, Danish juggernauts Astralis start as red-hot favourites to become the first squad since Fnatic in 2015 to win back to back major championships. At –110 to do so, they are a little short for our liking, so we are going to hunt some value in the field instead.

Team Liquid

One of the only squads to take the fight up to Astralis since their major win has been Team Liquid. Bouyed by the addition of former Cloud9 and MiBR star Stewie2K, the Team Liquid squad have lost just two of their last 13 series and since finishing third at the last major, the FACEIT London, they have made the Grand Final of five of the six LAN tournaments they have competed in.

Wins at the SuperNove CS:GO Malta and the iBUYPOWER Masters were accompanied by grand final appearances at the ESL Pro League Season 8 Finals, IEM Chicago 2018 and ESL One New York. The iBUYPOWER event was their most recent LAN event and was particularly impressive as they defeated Astralis in the final, the first time they had faced off against the Danes with Stewie2K in the line-up in place of TACO.

Team Liquid are arguably the form side in the world at the moment after their win at the iBUYPOWER event and at +500 to win the tournament and +150 to reach the final of their first major since 2016, we think they represent great value.

Pick: Team Liquid to win +500 at Bet365
Pick: Team Liquid to reach final +150 at Bet365

FaZe Clan

Another semi darkhorse for us this tournament has to be FaZe Clan. FaZe have been right around the mark for the better part of five years now but have just failed to put it together in a major. The were odds on favourite to win in Boston last year but were upset by Cloud9 in the final and another disappointing finish in London which saw them finish 5th-8th resulted in a roster change ahead of the next major.

The squad parted ways with stalwart in game leader karrigan and promoted star fragger NiKo to the role of IGL. For IEM Katowice, they will be playing with Kazakhstan pro AdreN, who has made a name for himself over the past few years playing with Gambit Esports.

The squad has racked up some good performances since FACEIT London, picking up 1st at EPICENTER 2018, 3rd at IEM Chicago and 1st at ELEAGUE Invitational early this year with AdreN in the side.

Pick: Team Liquid to win +500 at Bet365
Pick: Team Liquid to reach final +150 at Bet365

MVP

Astralis’ star AWPer device starts as hot favourite to win the MVP award at +400 closely followed by the reno wned best player in the world from NaVi in s1mple. If Astralis do end up lifting the trophy, there can’t be any other selection than device, however, we think the star tandem of NiKo and GuardiaN represent fantastic value should they help FaZe make a deep run in this tournament.

Pick: GuardiaN to win HTLV MVP +2000 at Bet365
