With the second CS:GO Major of the year, the StarLadder Berlin Major, just around the corner, the final stretches of the qualifying stages are starting to heat up! There are two big qualifying tournaments on this week in the CIS Minor and the Asia Minor!
We briefly take a look at both tournaments and give our betting picks below!
Asia Minor Betting Picks
Eight of the best teams from Asia and Oceania will battle it out for two spots in the Major Main qualifier this week at the Asia Minor. The third placed team in the tournament will play off in the Minor Play-In.
The tournament will be headlined by the Australian team Grayhound, who are currently the No.29 ranked team in the world and the No.1 ranked team in Oceania. Grayhound are coming off a few impressive perforamnces at Lans, including a 1-2 finish at the ESL Aus & NZ Championships and a 1-2 at the ESL Pro League Asia-Pacific. They also won the Asia Minor Closed Qualifier to book a spot in this tournament, beating out some quality opposition in the likes of Avant, Order, Genuine and Ground Zero.
Another headliner at the event will be Chinese team TYLOO. Currently the No.42 ranked team in the world, TYLOO have recently made some roster changes, bringing in Freeman for xccurate midway through June. The change has resulted in some high finishes as well as some disappointing ones, with the highlight of their recent run being a 1st place finish in the Asia Minor China Closed Qualifier, which earnt them a spot in this tournament.
The third headline team and our pick for the event has to be Korean team MVP PK. The suqad has now been together for over four months since making two changes to the roster, waving goodbye to glow and solo to bring in stax and new in game leader HSK. The core of the roster has been together for around two years, making them an extremely dangerous line-up in the Asian conference. They breezed through their closed qualifier event, winning the tournament without dropping a single map and were also competitive at ESL One Cologne last week.
At +275, we think the Korean line-up are great value to take out the tournament this week.
Pick: MVP PK to win +275 at Bet365
CIS Minor Betting Picks
The second qualifier of the week sees eight talented Eastern European teams battling it out for the chance to head to the Major Main qualifier next week.
Team Spirit and forZe lead the pack, ranked No.26 and No.34 respectively in the CS:GO World Rankings. The two Russian based sides start as heavy favourites for the event which doesn’t feature another team inside the top 50. We think it’s highliy likely that the winner comes from these two sides, especially given their form of late.
Spirit have had some impressive performances over the past month to help them slowly climb up the World Rankings. Arguably the most impressive of all was the 19-17 win they had over the No.1 ranked team in the world, Liquid, on Nuke at the GG.BET Cologne Invitational. They also had a great 2-0 win over Vega Squadron in the qualifying lead up tournament to this event.
Of the two sides, forZe’s resume is probably a little stronger in the lead up to the tournament. They boast a bunch of wins over top 30 ranked teams including Heroic, Optic Gaming, Windigo, Virtus Pro and G2 all within the last month. The strength of opponent should be a step down to what they have faced in the GG.BET Cologne Invitational and the LOOT.BET Beach Cup over the past month. We think they are good value at +100.
Pick: forZe to win +100 at Bet365
