EPL Betting Picks 2020-21: Matchday 28
Fulham vs Manchester City
Craven Cottage, Saturday 3:00pm (ET)
Manchester City’s incredible winning streak was ended by their crosstown rivals on Matchday 27, however City swiftly responded with a comprehensive 5-2 midweek victory over Southampton. The loss against United looks to have drawn a desperate response from the league leaders, as they look determined to not let the title slip.
Fulham come into this match on the back of an inspired 1-0 victory over Liverpool, that has given them a chance to escape the relegation zone. However the challenge against a re-focused City outfit looms near impossible, especially given their recent record against the league leaders. City hasn’t lost to Fulham in any competition since 2009, in their last sixteen encounters City have won thirteen and drawn three.
The league leaders have won their last ten games and have won by an average of 2.6 goals in this streak. Despite Fulham’s remarkable win at Anfield last week, they look like they’ll be in for a tough outing this weekend against Manchester City.
Arsenal vs Tottenham
Emirates Stadium, Sunday 12:30pm (ET)
It’s a massive North London Derby clash as Arsenal host Tottenham at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday. Tottenham will be looking to do the season double on their rivals, after defeating the Gunners 2-0 earlier in the season.
Arsenal’s inconsistent season can be summed up by the formline of their past five matches. Two wins, two defeats and a draw. There have been gimpleses of some excellent play, however there hasn’t been any sustained stretches of quality performance from the Gunners this season. Spurs are currently five points behind fourth placed Chelsea with a game in hand. A victory in Monday’s derby will help Spurs work themselves back into the race for a top four spot. Tottenham have had the wood over Arsenal recently, winning their last two Premier League games against the Gunners, including a 2-0 victory when the two sides met back in December.
Arsenal haven’t defeated Tottenham since 2018, and Spurs will be desperate to keep that streak continuing. Striker Harry Kane continued his dominant season, picking two goals and two assists in the victory over Crystal Palace last week. Kane leads the league in combined goals and assists with 29. When Kane and Heung Min Son play together this season, they’ve given defenders absolute nightmares. The duo broke the Premier League record for most goal combinations in a season with 14, and they don’t look like slowing down any time soon. Spurs have been in a rich vein of form and you can expect that to continue.
Wolverhampton vs Liverpool
Molineux Stadium, Monday 4:00pm (ET)
Liverpool travels to the Molineux after an embarrassing defeat at the hands of Fulham, which was their five consecutive league loss at Anfield. The defending champions sit eighth on the Premier League table and not only are their title hopes gone, but their Champions League aspirations look dead in the water.
Twelfth placed Wolves have struggled to find form recently, with just two wins from their last six Premier League games. Liverpool managed to right the ship with a 2-0 win in the Champions League during the week, and will be full of confidence given their recent record against Wolverhampton. The Reds have won their last eight consecutive Premier League matches against Wolves, and have not lost to Wolves since 2010.
Sadio Mane will be one to watch in this clash, with the winger scoring three goals in five Premier League appearances against Wolverhampton. With the defending champions fighting to claw their way to a respectable position on the table, you can expect a ruthless performance from Jurgen Klopp’s men. Liverpool smashed Wolves 4-0 back in December, and you can expect a similar result in this fixture.
