EPL Matchday 16 Betting Picks

Burnley vs Sheffield United

Turf Moor, Monday 1pm ET

Burnley were slow starters in their clash with Leeds United on the weekend, going down an early goal via a penalty, which proved to be the difference in the match. It was a disappointing result for a Clarets outfit that came into that fixture on a three game unbeaten run in the league. As a result of the loss to Leeds, Burnley have slipped to 17th spot on the table.

Sheffield United’s nightmare start to the 2020-21 EPL season continued with yet another loss this past weekend. This time it was Everton who were the beneficiaries of the Blades poor form, with Gylfi Sigurdsson finding the back of the net in the 80th minute. The Blades have secured just two points from 15 league matches to date and would have to defy all the odds if they’re to avoid relegation at season’s end.

Although Burnley were a touch disappointing against Leeds on the weekend, they showed plenty of fight in the second half and could’ve easily had an equalising goal with a bit of luck. As long as they produce the form we saw in the three weeks prior, then they should be too good at home for a Sheffield outfit that has lost 13/15 games this campaign.

Manchester United vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

Old Trafford, Tuesday 3pm ET

Manchester United looked a good thing against Leicester on the weekend but weren’t able to close out the win. They had to settle for a draw (2-2), which isn’t all bad because it extends their unbeaten run in the Premier League to eight matches. The Red Devils are on the charge up the table and are currently six points off top spot with a game in hand.

Wolverhampton Wanderers came into their home clash with Tottenham having lost three of their last four games, so it was important to be able to wrestle back momentum on their season. They were able to grind out a 1-1 draw in the end, which they wouldn’t be too displeased with. With that said, amassing just four points from their past five games is less than ideal for a club striving for a top six finish.

The Wolves will be desperate to get back on the winners list to avoid slipping further down the table, but the Red Devils are arguably the form team of the competition and will be extremely confident on their home deck. There have been 17 goals scored in United’s last three fixtures, while the Wolves haven’t kept a clean sheet in their past eight attempts. All signs lead to a high-scoring affair on Tuesday afternoon at Old Trafford.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Fulham

Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Wednesday 1pm ET

Tottenham Hotspur have struggled to deal with a tough schedule that has seen them play three of their past four league matches away from home. They drew 1-1 away to Wolves on the weekend, securing just their second point from their last four matches. Despite their torrid run, Spurs come into this round in fifth spot on the table and just six points off the lead.

Fulham played their part in a goalless draw against Southampton on the weekend in a contest that certainly didn’t have many highlights. The Cottagers have now drawn four straight Premier League matches in what’s been a decent little run for them. With that said, scoring goals continues to be of concern as Fulham have found the back of the net at a rate of less than a goal a game. They come into this round in 18th spot despite being unbeaten in four matches.

Tottenham have only scored five goals from their past six matches but will certainly create plenty of opportunities against one of the worst teams in the competition in Fulham. The Spurs have won three of their past four home fixtures in the Premier League and get a fantastic opportunity to get some forward momentum on their side. We’re expecting them to make the most of it and to win comfortably on their home deck.
