The Champions League continues this week with an interesting slate of games. The action gets underway on Tuesday afternoon and continues on Wednesday, with 16 total games to be played across the two days. As usual, we have you covered with a preview and picks for the key games below.
Champions League Matchday 4 Betting Picks
Dynamo Kiev vs Barcelona
Tuesday November 24th, 4.00pm (ET)
Barcelona currently sit atop Group G with a 3-0 record through the opening three games. They will square off against Ukrainian team Dynamo Kiev away from home this week and a win would secure a berth in the second round of the Champions League. They have been a little lackluster in the La Liga so far, maintaining just a 3-2-3 record through the opening eight games and currently with in 12th place.
Kiev are one of the powerhouses of the Ukrainian League and as usual, they sit atop the table with a 7-2-1 record through 10 games. Having scored 19 goals and allowed just 7. Playing against the best teams in Europe is a different story though, and they have been placed in a tough group which consists of both Barcelona and Juventus, meaning they have a 0-1-2 record through their opening UCL games.
Barcelona won the first matchup in Spain 2-1 back on the 4th of November. Before that, the two teams hadn’t squared off since the 2009 edition of the Champions League. Barca have a 6-3 record in 9 games against Kiev and we expect them to improve on that here.
Olympiacos vs Manchester City
Wednesday November 25th, 1.55pm (ET)
Interesting battle in Group C as the top of the table Manchester City face off against Olympiacos. The Greek side currently sit third in the group but could potentially draw level with FC Porto with a win on Tuesday.
Unfortunately for Olympiacos, history doesn’t stack up in their favour. They have faced off against the Citizens twice before and are yet to secure a win. Their most recent game was earlier in this Champions League campaign, where Manchester secured a 3-0 win at the Etihad.
City haven’t been in the best form in the EPL, maintaining just a 3-3-2 record through their opening eight games. They were beaten by Tottenham 2-0 on the weekend and now have to travel to Greece. We like Olympiacos to make a game of this against the struggling City side.
Liverpool vs Atalanta
Wednesday November 25th, 4.00pm (ET)
Liverpool secured a comfortable win over Atalanta in their first matchup in the Champions League and they now sit atop Group D with a perfect 3-0 record. Atalanta are fighting for the remaining qualification spot with Ajax, both teams currently sitting on four points.
With the teams heading back to Anfield for this clash, normally we’d have no problems picking a comfortable win for Liverpool. However, due to their healthy lead in the group and a demanding EPL schedule, they have decided to manage a bunch of players who are carrying niggles. Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Henderson, Keita, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Salah and van Dijk will all miss the clash while Alcantra, Fabinho and Williams are questionable.
That’s the bulk of their side that won the Champions League last season. Make no mistake, Liverpool will still field a very competitive side on Wednesday afternoon that could easily win, but we think Atalanta are a chance here.
