Champions League: Matchday 2 Betting Picks

The Champions League got off to a great start last week with the first round of group stage matches providing some thrilling results. We are back this week with another round of best bets for the 16 game slate set to take place on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon.

Champions League Matchday 2 Betting Picks

Lokomotiv Moscow vs Bayern Munich

Tuesday October 26th, 1.55pm (ET)

Bayern Munich has to be considered the best team in the world at the moment. They are just a few months removed from lifting a record 30th Bundesliga title and they also claimed their 6th Champions League title last season. They were dominant against Atletico Madrid in their opening UCL game, winning 4-0 and now have a much easier task, albeit away from home, against Lokomotiv Moscow.

The Russian side currently sit in 4th place in the Russion Premier League with a 6-3-3 record through their opening 12 games. They were able to hold on for a 2-2 draw in htier opening Champions League game against RB Salzburg but Bayern Munich are a different beast.

We have no doubt that the German side will win this match, it’s just a matter of the scoreline. Bayern have conceded just one goal in their last four games across all competitions, racking up a 4-0 record with a 16-1 goal aggregate across those games. Back them to win to nil here.

Juventus vs Barcelona

Wednesday October 28th, 4.00pm (ET)

What a matchup we have in store for us as Juventus host Barcelona on Wednesday afternoon. This will be the teams first matchup since Cristiano Ronaldo relocated to Italy, unfortunately for football fans, the Portuguese star may not be available for the game after testing positive to COVID-19 over the international break. Ronaldo could potentially still play, but will need to turn in a negative test before the game.

Juventus have been solid in the Serie A so far this season, racking up a 2-3-0 record through their opening five games. Barcelona on the other hand, have not been their usual dominant self in the domestic competition, currently sitting in 12th place with a 2-1-2 record.

The bookies have this one pretty even but we are leaning slightly towards Juventus at home. They are in better form and there is always the slight possibility that Ronaldo does in fact play, which should make them firm favorites at home.

Manchester United vs RB Leipzeg

Wednesday October 28th, 4.00pm (ET)

Interesting matchup between the form side of the Bundesliga in RB Leipzeg and English giant Manchester United. Leipzeg currently sits atop the German domestic competition with a 4-1-0 record through the opening five games, including wins over solid sides in Schalke and Bayer Leverkusen. They were too good for Istanbul in their first Champions League match but the trip to Old Trafford should be a tougher test.

The Red Devils have been a little slow out of the blocks in the EPL season to date, going just 2-1-2 through their first five games. They were dealt a lesson by Tottenham just a few weeks ago, losing 6-1 but have since bounced back to beat Newcastle 4-1, draw with Chelsea 0-0 and beat PSG in their opening UCL game in a 2-1 upset.

Love the value of the German side here. Manchester United have looked a little better over their last few games but are still really susceptible to quality European sides, which Leipzeg most certainly are. Back the Germans with the draw as safety here.
