The 2021 Australian Football League (AFL) season continues this weekend with Round 20. There are nine games on the cards and we have our best betting picks for all of them right here!
AFL Round 20 Betting Picks
Western Bulldogs vs Adelaide Crows
Mars Stadium, Friday 10:20pm ET
The Western Bulldogs flexed their muscles in a top of the table clash with Melbourne last weekend, which they were able to win by 20 points. The Bulldogs controlled the game from start to finish to secure their 14th victory of the season and retain first spot on the ladder.
Adelaide also won their fixture in Round 19 when taking care of the lowly Hawks in Melbourne. Despite playing their home game in another state, the Crows were able to come out on top by 19 points in a shootout. The Crows now have six wins to their name this season, which is an improvement on last campaign.
The Crows may be coming off a win last weekend, but it was against arguably the worst form team in the competition. They now face the best of the best in the Bulldogs who we expect to be at their dominant best as they look to continue their push for a top two finish. The Dogs should be far too good on this occasion.
North Melbourne vs Geelong Cats
Blundstone Arena, Friday 11:15pm ET
North Melbourne come into this off a fantastic win against Carlton last time out where they stormed home in the second half to win by 39 points. The Kangaroos have now put together a really solid seven weeks of football since their bye with a record of 3-1-3 and have now given themselves a chance to get off the bottom of the ladder.
Geelong continues to impress and made light work of Richmond in the Grand Final rematch last weekend. The Cats led comfortably at every break against the Tigers to eventually win by 38 points to make it wins in four straight games and 10 of their last 11, which has propelled them to equal first on the ladder with 14 wins.
The Cats will go into this Round 20 fixture as the very short-priced favorites and deservedly so considering their form over the past three months. With that said, the Kangaroos have been offering a stern challenge to all opponents over the past seven weeks and should be able to stay within five goals of the Cats here.
Hawthorn Hawks vs Brisbane Lions
UOTS, Sunday 12:10am ET
Hawthorn were unable to back up their gallant effort against the Demons in Round 18 when they were outplayed by a fellow struggling team in the Crows last weekend. The Hawks trailed at every break in their most recent loss and are now only percentage ahead of the Kangaroos on the bottom of the ladder.
Brisbane certainly haven’t been at their best over the last couple of weeks but were still able to secure a valuable win over their rivals in the Gold Coast last weekend. The Lions stormed home in the second half when outscoring the Suns 87-11 to snap a mini two-game losing streak and keep their top four hopes alive.
The Lions will start this clash as the overwhelming favorites and for good reason considering the form of their opponents. What’s really caught our eye in the markets for this clash however, is the total points line, which looks far too low. Both sides have been sloppy in defense of late with each team conceding at least 70 points in their last three games and we expect another similar result here, which will be enough for the over’s to salute.
