AFL Round 11 Betting Picks
Collingwood Magpies vs Geelong Cats
MCG, Friday 11:45pm ET
Collingwood looked on their way to a big upset when they led the Power through the first three quarters of their Round 10 clash, but couldn’t hold on in the last quarter and eventually fell by a single point. Despite the loss, the intensity and effort from the Magpies was admirable.
Geelong were expected by many to make very light work of the Suns in their recent outing and while they did end up winning by a comfortable margin, they were certainly made to work pretty hard for the four points. The Cats are now building some nice winning momentum and are looking more and more like the team we expected them to be.
There are talks of this game being moved interstate amid the new Covid crisis in Victoria, but it doesn’t matter where it’s played in our opinion as the Cats should be far too strong. We have them covering the spread comfortably against the youthful Magpies.
Brisbane Lions vs GWS Giants
Gabba, Saturday 12:10am ET
Brisbane continued their fantastic form with an impressive win over the defending champion Tigers last weekend. The Lions were able to control the game from start to finish in their 28-point win, making it six victories in a row to shake off a poor start to the season.
GWS played their part in a fantastic match against the Eagles in Round 10 where they were able to come out on top by just under three goals. It was a see-sawing affair from start to finish, but the undermanned Giants showed the same impressive desperation we’ve seen from them for over a month now to make it five wins from their past seven games.
The Giants come into this in some very good form and will take confidence from that, however, with injuries continuing to mount and away from home against one of the best teams in the league, it’s hard to see them getting near the Lions in this one. We have the home side taking care of business by 5+ goals.
Richmond Tigers vs Adelaide Crows
Giants Stadium, Saturday 12:10pm ET
Richmond were no match for the Lions on the road last weekend, losing by 28 points after leading at quarter time by eight points. Injuries continue to pile up for the Tigers, with star forward Tom Lynch the latest to go down. Now at 5-5 on the season, the Tigers can’t afford to lose too many more games.
Adelaide pulled off one of the great upsets last weekend when they took down the then undefeated Demons. Tex Walker was the hero again with his late go-ahead goal to give the Crows their fourth win of the season, which has already surpassed the number of wins most of us thought they’d secure this year.
While injuries are of concern for the Tigers at the moment, they should still be able to account for the Crows this weekend who are coming off an emotional high. It does hurt the Tigers a touch that this won’t be at the MCG, but we still have them covering the spread in this one.
