What a fixture we have on our hands this weekend! Liverpool and Manchester City are everyone’s fancied teams to fight it out for the title again this season, which makes their two matchups this season crucial in deciding who will become champions of England. Liverpool will host the first of their two meetings and will look to increase their current six point lead over the Citizens.

Liverpool

Liverpool come into this fixture as the only undefeated team in the Premier League this season. Their 10-1-0 record is truly remarkable and has them in a really nice position, albeit with plenty of games to come. Last time out the Reds found themselves in a very tricky position when they trailed by a goal away to Aston Villa at the dying stages. However, goals in the 87th and 94th minute saw them go ahead 2-1 to claim yet another clutch win. Conceding goals remains a big concern for Jurgen Klopp’s men; Liverpool have no conceded at least one goal in each of their last eight games in all competitions. They’ll be hoping to improve on this area as keeper Alisson Becker returns to full fitness.

Manchester City 

Manchester City escaped a tricky situation of their own last time out when they trailed 1-0 at the main break against Southampton. The Saints were coming off a 9-0 thumping by Leicester last time out and were given absolutely no hope of troubling the champions, however, they showed great character but would eventually lose 2-1 thanks to goals from Sergio Aguero and Kyle Walker in the final 20 minutes of play. The Citizens avoided a slip up on that occasion, but a few early season hiccups has them currently six points behind league-leaders in Liverpool. Like their rivals, City have struggled to keep the ball out of their own net, conceding a goal in each of their last three games in all competitions.

What a fixture we’ve got on our hands to close out Matchday 12! Clearly the two best teams in England will be going at it in what could prove to be a title defining fixture – even if it is so early in the season! Last season we saw these sides play out two very defensive league meetings where the score finished 2-1 to City at the Etihad and 0-0 at Anfield. Once again, we’re expecting a very defensive match as each team desperately doesn’t want to give up league points to the other. We expect either a 1-0 win to either side or this one to end in a 0-0 scoreline.
