2019 NFL Playoffs Betting Picks: Wildcard Round

The NFL regular season is complete and the moment we have all been waiting for is finally here! The 2019 NFL Playoffs get underway this Saturday with two massive games in the Wildcard Round followed by another double header on Sunday! We are back this week with another NFL best bet for the four-game slate and betting picks the remaining three games below.

NFL Playoffs Wildcard Round Best Bet
Indianapolis Colts at Houston Texans
Saturday 5th of January 4:35pm ET

The Colts and Texans get the Wildcard Round underway on Saturday at 4.35pm (ET) as they face off in Houston. The two teams have played twice this season, in Week 4 when the Texans were three-point winners on the road in a high scoring game and in Week 14 where the Colts were three-point winners 24-21 on the road.

The Colts have been one of the standout teams in the NFL in the back half of the season. Dating back to a 37-5 blowout of the Buffalo Bills in Week 7, Indianapolis have lost just one game to round out the season, which came in an uncharacteristic 6-0 loss in Jacksonville in Week 13.

The Colts have won 9 of 10 games since Week 7, including fantastic wins over the likes of the Titans, Texans and Cowboys. Andrew Luck has been playing his best football since returning from injury, averaging 280 passing yards and maintaining a 23-7 touchdown-interception rate since Week 7. In that span he has a QB rating of 106.8, which would be good for fifth in the league this season.

After losing their first three games of the season, the Texans went on a nine-game winning streak, but have since lost two of their last four games. Those losses came at the hands of two playoff teams in the Eagles and the Colts, however, they are the only playoff teams that the Texans have faced since a Week 5 win over the Cowboys.

It seems that no moment seems to be too big for young Texans quarterback DeShaun Watson, who has been fantastic this year despite a string of injuries to key position players on the Texans. He has maintained a 103.1 quarterback rating throughout the season so far and has a 26-9 touchdown-interception ratio.

The Colts offensive line has been one of the best in the league this season. They have allowed Luck plenty of time to sit back and dissect defenses, however, they’ll be going up against the best defensive line in football this weekend in the Texans. Houston have racked up a league leading 62 sacks this season and forced 14 fumbles.

We think the game will be decided on the other side of the ball though. The Colts defense has been well above what people expected it to be throughout the back half of the season and they should be able to put sufficient pressure on DeShaun Watson. The Texans have also struggled mightily in the red zone on both defense and offense this season, which in a high-pressure playoff game, could be their undoing.
