NFL Divisional Round Betting Picks
Jacksonville Jaguars at Kansas City Chiefs
Saturday, 4.30pm (ET)
The Chiefs will be refreshed after a week bye in the first round of the playoffs and now they will host the Jags with the aim of reaching their fifth straight AFC Championship game. Patrick Mahomes finished the season off in a flurry, leading his team to five straight wins to claim top seed in the conference.
The Jags looked down and out in their wildcard game against the Chargers, trailing 27-0 at one point before one of the most miraculous comebacks in NFL history saw them walk away with a 31-30 win. Trevor Lawrence threw four interceptions in the first half before dominating in the comeback with four touchdowns and 288 yards.
It’ll be a different test for the Jags this week though as they head to Kansas City. The Chiefs have been the most dominant offense in the league throughout the whole season and Patrick Mahomes has been in pressure situations countless times during his career. Hard to see the Chiefs not covering the 8.5 point line here.
New York Giants at Philadelphia Eagles
Saturday 8.15pm (ET)
In what will no doubt be the most viewed game of the weekend, two NFC East rivals will do battle in the post-season for the first time since all the way back in 2008. The two teams have met four times in the playoffs in their long and illustrious histories, with the Giants winning the first two before the Eagles won the most recent two to square the ledger.
The Eagles will have the added benefit of having the week off to prepare for this match, which will have been crucial for star quarterback Jalen Hurts, who missed two of the last three games of the regular season through injury.
The Giants were underdogs ravelling to Minnesota in the wildcard round but were clearly the better team, taking out a seven point victory on the back of a 31 point game from the offense. Quaretback Daniel Jones has really come into his own in the back half of the season, so much so that I think he has the ability to put up points against the Eagles side. There was 55.0 total points per game scored in the first round of the playoffs and I think that trend continues with another high scoring game here.
Dallas Cowboys at San Francisco 49ers
Sunday 6.30pm (ET)
Another fantastic NFC matchup here as the 49ers host the Cowboys in what should be an absolute thriller. These two sides had the most dominant wins of the wildard round, with the 49ers claiming an 18 point victory over the Seahawks while the Cowboys were 17 points better than the Buccs.
The 49ers had the best defense throughout the 2022-23 regular season, allowing just 16.3 points per game. They allowed over two games just once in their last 10 games of the regular season.
The Cowboys defense were no slouches either during the regular season, ranking fifth overall allowing just 20.1 points per game. I think this game will have a bit slower pacing to it with the dominant defenses and run games that both teams possess. Back the unders here.
