The Lakers are 0-2 on the season but despite being statistically one of the worst shooting teams in the history of the NBA, they have actually looked fairly competitive, especially in their 2nd game against the Clippers on Thursday. It’s been a tough start to their schedule with games against title contenders in the Clippers and Warriors, but they’ll get a good opportunity to get their first win on the board on Sunday as they face the Blazers at home.

Portland are 2-0 on the season so far but their schedule has been a tough easier with games against the Suns and Kings. Star PG Damian Lillard has gotten off to a hot start in 2022-23, averaging 30.5 points per game.

The Lakers need some help in the shooting department, desperately. The rest of their game actually shapes up alright at the present time, especially if Anthony Davis can stay fit and keep playing at a high level. They will be looking to make a trade in the coming weeks to bolster their depth but for now, I actually like them at home on Sunday. Back them minus the 3.5 point line.

The Phoenix Suns kicked off the season with a solid win over teh Mavericks at home but were beaten by the Blazers on the road after OT in their follow up to fall to 1-1. There’s no doubt that they are a top contender in the West once again this season, but they have a tricky start to the year with another road game against the Clippers here followed by a home game against the Warriors on Tuesday night.

The Clippers will be on the 2nd night of a back to back on Sunday, but Kawhi Leonard sat out the Saturday night clash against the Kings to ensure his fitness levels would be right to go for arguably the more important game. The Clips are 2-0 to start the season, edging past the Lakers and Kings by an avearge margin of just 4 points in their first two games.

I think this will be a tight tussle from start to finish. These two teams are very evenly matched when at full strenght, and the bookies agree. The Clippers start as just 2 point favourites at home. I am not wiling to take either team at that line, but I do like the unders here. Line seems a little high at 219. Both of these teams have solid defenses and their four games last season resulted in a average total of just 205.5.
