What a match-up we have here between two definite playoff teams in the Jazz and the Mavericks. This could very well be a preview for the first round of the playoffs, so players will be out to make a statement on Monday night. Missing from the Mavericks will be superstar guard Luka Doncic, while the Jazz are expected to be at near full strength. Tip off is scheduled for 8:30pm ET at the American Airlines Center in Dallas.

The Jazz come into this off a miraculous win on Sunday night in Houston. The game came down to the final 1.6 seconds when Bojan Bogdanovic drained the game winning three to take down the Rockets. That win was the Jazz’s second in a row by three points or less, which has been welcomed with open arms after the rough patch they were going through prior. The Jazz are now in fourth spot in the West standings with a 34-18 record.

The Mavericks were winners in their most recent game against the Hornets by 16 points in Charlotte. Seth Curry carried the scoring load with 26 points off the bench, while Willie Cauley-Stein was impressive with his first double-double for the Mavs (15 points, 10 rebounds). That win was their third from their past five games, which is a decent return considering they’re missing their best player. The Mavs come into this game with a 32-11 record, which is good enough for seventh spot in the West standings.

This is arguably the match-up of the day and we expect it to play out that way. However, we do give the Mavericks the advantage here, simply due to them being at home and the Jazz being on the second leg of a road back to back. The Jazz are inconsistent on their travels (15-13 road record) at the best of times and are due for an emotional let down after such a huge win on Sunday. We’re tipping the Mavericks to win by 7-8 points.

Best Pick: Dallas Mavericks (-108 at BetRivers)

Atlanta Hawks @ Orlando Magic
7pm ET, Amway Center

Our best value pick of the day comes from the other side of the country where the Magic and the Hawks will do battle in Orlando. The Hawks look to have found some spring in their step of late and come into this with a 5-5 record in their last 10 games. Their most recent win was a morale-boosting 140-135 victory on their home deck against the Knicks in Double OT. Meanwhile, the Magic come into this in some horrible form. They’ve lost three in a row and eight of their past nine and simply don’t look like turning it around anytime soon.

The Magic come into this in the eighth seed despite a poor 22-31 record, which means the Hawks are only 7.5 games behind even though they’ve had a horror first half of the season. On form, the Hawks actually look like the likely victors from this game, so we were surprised to see the spread set in favor of the Magic by six points. We’re more than happy to have a stab at the Hawks at these odds in hope they can continue on their current trend.

Value Pick: Atlanta Hawks (+200 at BetRivers)
