NBA regular season action in the bubble has just five slates remaining before we enter the playoffs! There’s still plenty for teams to play for in these remaining days, which should make for some excellent viewing.
Here, we bring you our previews and best NBA picks for the upcoming five game slate on Monday. Check them out below and good luck to everyone following!
NBA Picks Monday, August 10th
OKC Thunder at Phoenix Suns
OKC are coming off an easy win against the listless Wizards in an outing where they had the luxury of resting a couple of players. They’re on the quick backup however, so they just might switch up the rotations again knowing they don’t have much to gain in these final seeding games.
The Suns have been the best team in the bubble to date, which is something that absolutely no-one saw coming. They’re 5-0 and have knocked over a couple of quality teams along the way to give them a realistic chance of fighting for the eighth and final playoff spot.
The Thunder won’t be going all out here and the Suns certainly will be. We expect intensity and desperation to be the difference in this particularly matchup, and for the Suns to cover the spread by a relatively comfortable margin.
Indiana Pacers at Miami Heat
The Pacers have been one of the best teams in the bubble despite being without a couple of stars in Domantas Sabonis and Victor Oladipo. They’ve amassed a 4-1 record to date with their only loss coming against a suns unit that is yet to lose a game.
The Heat have taken the cautious route in the bubble to date, at least for these seeding games. They’ve rested their stars where they see fit and have dropped a couple of games they’d usually win as a result.
We’re surprised to see the Pacers start as the underdogs here, particularly with the form and rotations of the two teams coming in. We expect TJ Warren to roll on with his hot hand and to lead the Pacers to a win here.
Denver Nuggets at Los Angeles Lakers
The Nuggets, like most qualified teams, have opted to rest their stars where they can. They’ve still managed to win three of their five games in the bubble and will be well positioned when the playoffs commence.
The Lakers are yet to really find their feet in the bubble, but a large part of that would be their willingness to give extended minutes to guys that would usually bet at the end of the bench. They’re 1-4 since the restart but will still start the playoffs seeded first in the West.
The Lakers continue to start as favorites despite their poor form, and we see this as a great opportunity to oppose them. The Nuggets, led by MPJ of late, are playing decent basketball and look the good with a 5.5 point head start.
