The Premier League returns with some blockbuster clashes! There’s a top two clash between Manchester City and Chelsea, and a massive North London Derby between Tottenham and Arsenal. It’s a massive weekend and we’ve got you covered with our best picks!

Manchester City vs Chelsea

Saturday 7:30am ET, Emirates Stadium

It’s a season defining clash at the Etihad on Saturday morning with Manchester City having a chance to effectively put one hand on the Premier League trophy. Manchester City are now ten points ahead of second place Chelsea, who have drawn four of their last five games are watching the defending champions run away with the title once again.

Man City have won eleven consecutive games and have the perfect statistical profile. The league leaders have the best attack in the Premier League (53 Goals) as well as the best defence (13 goals conceded). In their eleven game winning streak which dates back to October, Man City have scored thirty two goals and conceded only seven. It’s been an utterly dominant streak by the defending champions, and as we saw last season, this unbeaten run could end the title race well before the season is over.

Man City have had the wood over Chelsea in recent seasons, with four wins, two draws and no losses in their last six Premier League matchups against Chelsea, including a 1-0 win at Stamford Bridge back in September. Man City are in red hot form at the moment and Chelsea are plateauing, the defending champs will increase their lead at the top of the table.

Wolverhampton vs Southampton

Saturday 10:00am ET, Molineux Stadium

Wolves have been one the biggest improvers this season, sitting in eighth place on the Premier League table. Fresh off a win against Manchester United, Wolverhampton will be looking to take their unbeaten streak to four games when they take on Southampton.

Wolverhampton have beaten Manchester United away and drew with Chelsea in their last two games, showing their style of play can take it up to the best sides in the Premier League. They’re not prolific in attack, however they are smart with their control in midfield and their defence has been outstanding this season. Wolves’ improvement in season ‘21/’22 has come on the back of their elite defence, which is the number two ranked defence in the League, only allowing 14 goals from 19 matches.

A big factor coming into this clash will be how well Wolves have played Southampton in the last two years. Wolves are undefeated against Southampton since 2019, and in that time have had three wins and a draw in their four Premier League games against the Saints. Bruno Lage has his team playing disciplined and controlled football, and they will be able to control the game against an opposition that doesn’t have many attacking threats.

Tottenham vs Arsenal

Sunday 11:30am ET, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

To round out the weekend of football, we’ve got a massive North London Derby as Tottenham host bitter rivals Arsenal. The Gunners sit in fifth place on 35 points with a chance to jump into fourth place, while Spurs are in sixth place on 33 points, with two games in hand on Arsenal.

Both teams come into this fixture on the back of some good form, Tottenham are unbeaten in their last eight Premier League fixtures, and Arsenal have won four of their last five games, with their only loss coming against the league leading Manchester City. Spurs have found an impressive patch of form however seven of the eight teams they’ve played against in the unbeaten run are in the bottom half of the Premier League table. Despite the defeat to Manchester City, Arsenal will be full of confidence from how they were able to control the majority of the game against the best team in the league. Arsenal have been dominant in the four victories from their last game, with a combined score line of 14-1 across those games.

The Gunners have won the last two North London Derbies, including a comprehensive 3-1 back in September. Arsenal have a better track record against stronger opposition in the last month in comparison to Spurs. Arsenal’s attacking style will match up well against Tottenham, having the fifth best attack in the league with 33 goals this season – ten more goals than Spurs have scored this season. This clash plays right into Arsenal’s hands, and they’ll sweep the North London Derby this season.
