Choclatito vs. Estrada 3 Picks & Betting Preview

Choclatito vs. Estrada 3 Picks & Betting Preview

The vacant WBC super flyweight strap will be up for grabs when Juan Francisco Estrada and Roman ‘Chocolatito’ Gonzalez conclude their excellent trilogy this Saturday. Unlike the Fury-Chisora trilogy that isn’t needed in the slightest, the Gonzalez-Estrada trilogy is completely warranted.

The pair have fought previously in 2012 and 2022. Chocolatito won the first matchup and lost the second in controversial fashion.

DraftKings 1st Deposit Bonus Offer

Users will receive a first deposit match at 20% value of their initial deposit, which means to claim the full $1,000 in bonus funds, they must deposit $5,000.

Bonus funds will be awarded to the user according to the following play-through requirement: for every $25 played on DraftKings in DFS/Sportsbook/Casino, the user will receive $1 in bonus funds released into their customer account (e.g., a $5,000 deposit requires a customer to play through a cumulative total of $25,000 in daily fantasy contests, sportsbook (-300 odds or longer), casino products, or any combination thereof to receive the maximum possible bonus amount of $1,000).

Since their first meeting, Gonzalez and Estrada have etched their hall-of-fame careers before coming back to meet each other again in 2022.

They were scheduled to meet in March, but Estrada was forced out of the fight. Gonzalez remained on the card. He destroyed WBC flyweight champion Julio Cesar Martinez. The two will meet in a clash that surely will not disappoint again.

After the pair’s first fight in 2012, Gonzalez (51-3, 41 KOs) went on to win 12 consecutive fights and become the top pound-for-pound fighter in the sport. His undefeated record reached 46-0 before Srisaket Sor Rungvisai ended Chocolatito’s streak. Sor Rungvisai won back-to-back fights against Gonzalez in 2017.

Many people did not know where Gonzalez would go after his first two losses. However, he fought on and went on another impressive run. Choclatito won four straight contests, which included winning a WBA super flyweight belt from Kal Yafai.

After losing the first fight to Gonzalez, Estrada (43-3, 28 KOs) won 17 of his next 18 fights. Two fights later, Estrada exacted revenge and beat Sor Rungvisai in April 2019 to win the WBC title.

In the Choclatito-Estrada rematch, the two exchanged more than 2500 punches. Many pundits believed Gonzalez was the better man. However, Estrada got the nod and evened the series.

Choclatito vs. Estrada 3 Picks

Gonzalez is the more versatile offensive fighter. He may not be the fresher fighter, but he has never been hurt in his fights with Estrada. I do not think either man will be stopped. However, I do see them exchanging plenty of firepower and making things entertaining.

With all this in mind, I like Gonzalez to win by decision. Gonzalez’s moneyline is priced up all the way to -225 (70% implied probability) at some sportsbooks. However, Choclatito winning by a decision is sitting at +115 (46% implied probability). I believe these odds have solid value compared to his moneyline. This is my Chocalatito vs. Estrada pick.

Pick: Gonzalez to win by decision (+115 at DraftKings Sportsbook)
