Champions League Round of 16 Betting Picks
Bayern Munich vs Salzburg
Tuesday March 8th, 3.00pm (ET)
The action in Leg 2 of the Round of 16 gets underway on Tuesday afternoon as the German giants Bayern Munich take on Salzburg. The Austrian team will be pleasantly surprised with their result at home in Leg 1, coming away with a 1-1 draw against Bayern as big underdogs.
Bayern will have some key injuries heading into this game, with defender Alphonso Davies out with heart problems while midfielder Leon Goretzka will be out with a thigh injury.
Salzburg were gallant at home in the first leg but it’s tough to see them travelling to Munich and earning a win or a draw here. Bayern is arguably the best side in the world at the moment, and they are worthy -185 favororites. I think they win this one by multiple goals.
Liverpool vs Inter Milan
Tuesday March 8th, 3.00pm (ET)
Liverpool will take a commanding 2-0 lead into the 2nd leg of their clash with Italian side Inter Milan. They won the first game on the back of two late goals from Roberto Firmino and Mo Salah and will now head back home to England for the return leg.
The English side will be without some key players through injury for the game on Tuesday afternoon, as Firmino, Matip and Thiago are all set to miss. Inter Milan don’t have any injury problems, but will still start as heavy underdogs at +450 to win and even more to go through to the next round.
Tough to look past the Reds at home. I think they win and I think this could be a pretty high scoring game. Inter will be attacking from the opening kick off as they need to win by two or three goals to even have a chance at qualifying.
Manchester City vs Sporting Lisbon
Wednesday March 9th, 3.00pm (ET)
Something pretty amazing would have to happen for Manchester City to be eliminated from the Champions League on Wednesday afternoon. They will take a 5-0 lead into the 2nd leg of their matchup with Sporting Lisbon after recording a dominant win away from home a few weeks ago.
Manchester City will take a few injuries into the game in the likes of Ake, Dias, Mendy and Palmer, but nothing that should really effect their ability to win this game.
They don’t need to win it, in fact, they can lose by four goals and still advance through to the next round. However, Manchester City should be far too strong at home, I think they win to nil.
Real Madrid vs PSG
Wednesday March 9th, 3.00pm (ET)
This is the big one of the week. Real Madrid will be looking to overcome a 1-0 deficit to PSG as they return home to Spain for the return leg on Wednesday afternoon. They bounced back from that loss to Paris with three straight wins in the La Liga, racking up eight goals to just one in those wins.
PSG have trended in the opposite direction since the win over the Spanish side a few weeks ago. They are 1-0-2 in their last three games in Ligue 1, suffering losses to Nanted and Nice.
This will be an extremely hotly contested battle, and I expect both teams to come out pretty defensively. Back the unders here.
