Champions League Round of 16 Betting Picks

Manchester United vs Atletico Madrid

Tuesday March 15th, 4.00pm (ET)

It’s all on the line for the Red Devils on Tuesday afternoon as they can advance through to the quarter-finals of the Champions League for the first time since all the way back in the 2013-14 season. They did what they needed to in Spain a few weeks ago, recording a 1-1 draw against Atletico, so now any win would send them straight through.

Atletico were the better side in the first leg of the matchup, but failed to capitalise on their chances. They have been solid without setting the world alight in the La Liga, maintaining a 15-6-7 record so far to sit in fourth place on the table.

The Atletico defense hasn’t been the juggernaut we’ve come to expect over recent years throughout this season so far. They have alloed 36 goals in the La Liga, the most of any of the top eight teams. If we see an early goal here, this game could open right up as the trailing team goes ultra attacking to try to get back in contention. Back the overs here.

Ajax vs Benfica

Tuesday March 15th, 4.00pm (ET)

Another tie that sees the two sides deadlocked coming into the 2nd leg will be played out on Tuesday afternoon as Ajax host Benfica from 4.00pm. The first leg in Lisbon ended two goals apiece, but back at home, Ajax will be favoured to advance through to the next round.

Ajax have been completely dominant in the Eredivisie so far this season, racking up a 20-3-3 record and a ridiculous 77-11 goal aggregate. They have been one of the most attacking teams in all of European football, adding another 22 goals in just 7 Champions League games so far.

I think the Dutch outfit prove too strong for their Portugese counterparts here. They have the talent on paper as well as the form.

Juventus vs Villareal

Wednesday March 16th, 4.00pm (ET)

Yet another game here where the winner will earn themselves a ticket straight through to the quater-finals as the first leg ended in a 1-1 draw. Juventus will return home for the return leg to play against Spanish outfit Villareal.

There is a bit more meat on the bone for Juventus then I thought there would be here. They are at -105 to win the match, which I am very happy to take considering they have not lost at home since all the way back in November, a streak that spans 10 games.

On the contrary, Villareal have been pretty poor on the road, losing three of their last five games. Back the Italians here.
