NBA Betting Picks: Wednesday, November 24th
Miami Heat at Minnesota Timberwolves
Target Center, 12pm ET
The Heat proved too good for the undermanned and inexperience Pistons in the first leg of their road back-to-back. Tyler Herro had another fantastic outing off the bench with 31 points and eight rebounds to help guide his team to their fifth win from their last six games. The Heat are now tied with the Bulls for the second best record in the East at 12-6.
The Timberwolves had a horror couple of weeks of form that was threatening to derail their season despite it still being November. However, they’ve returned to winning way in superb fashion over the last fortnight, reeling off four straight wins, all of which have been by 10 or more points. The Timberwolves are now 8-9 on the season and just two games back from the four seed in the West.
Both teams come into this in good form but it’s the Timberwolves who’ve caught our eye the most over the last week or so. They’ve been in tremendous form, particularly on their home deck where they’ve won their last two by a combined 58 points. While the Heat should definitely offer a more stern challenge than that on Wednesday, we still expect the Timberwolves to win what would be their fifth game in a row.
Chicago Bulls at Houston Rockets
Toyota Center, 12pm ET
The Bulls come into this slate off their worst performance of the season against the Pacers where they lost by 32 points on their home deck. The Bulls entered that clash in terrific form having won six of their last eight leading in, which perhaps tells us that it’ll be an anomaly. That result aside, it’s been a fantastic start to the season for the Bulls who are currently 12-6 and tied with the Heat for the second best record in the East.
The Rockets started the season full of energy and split their first two games at 1-1, however, since then it’s been an absolute nightmare for this young group who have gone onto lose each of their last 15 games. Perhaps even more concerning is the manner they’ve been losing when you consider 11 of those 15 losses were by at least 10 points. The Rockets have arguably the worst roster in NBA history and look destined for another high draft pick in 2022.
The Bulls were terrible last time out against the Pacers but have the perfect opportunity to get back on the winners list on Wednesday against the worst team in the league. Given the Rockets have lost 11 of their last 15 games by 10+ points, we see the motivated Bulls covering the current spread of 8.5-point with relative ease.
Toronto Raptors at Memphis Grizzlies
FedExForum, 12pm ET
The Raptors surprised many with their impressive start to the season where they won six of their first nine games. Since then, however, it’s been back to reality for the rebuilding Raptors who have lost seven of their last nine games. On a positive note, Scottie Barnes has been as good as advertised in his rookies season to date and is sure to be among the top chances for Rookie of the Year.
The Grizzlies have picked up where they left off last season and look as though they’ll be around the fringe playoffs mark once again. Ja Morant is enjoying another stellar campaign and is putting his hat in the ring for Most Improved Player with some very good early splits. The young superstar has helped his team win three of their last four games, which has seen them rise to seventh spot in the West at 9-8.
The Raptors have struggled form form in recent weeks and now find themselves on the road against one of the form teams in the league over the last 10 days. The Grizzlies come into this off a clutch win against the Jazz and will be full of confidence as they look to make it four wins from their last five games. The Grizzlies have been labeled as 4.5-point spread favorites here, which we believe they should cover.
