2020-21 NBA Finals Betting Picks: Game 1
Milwaukee Bucks at Phoenix Suns
PHX Arena, 9pm ET
It’s been an unforgettable season for many reasons, but we’ve now finally reached the pinnacle with just two teams left to fight it out for the NBA Championship via one last best-of-seven series. The Milwaukee Bucks and the Phoenix Suns have best navigated the post season in their respective conferences and are more than deserving of facing off in the NBA Finals.
The Milwaukee Bucks were able to wrestle the demons of past post-season flops to finally make it to the NBA Finals this campaign. They had a bit of luck along the way with key players from opposition teams missing through injury, but that’s just about always the case in the playoffs, so you can’t take anything away from them.
The Phoenix Suns have defied the odds and made history this season when they became the first team ever to make the NBA Finals after not even making the playoffs for the 10 seasons prior. It’s simply been an incredible season for the Suns and a fairytale for Chris Paul who’s going to be playing in his first NBA Finals series at 36 years of age.
With these teams obviously being in seperate conferences, they only played each other twice this campaign due to the shortened 72-game season. In both meetings, one at home and one away, the Suns secured the win by a single point, with the second and most recent meeting in Milwaukee also requiring overtime.
While the Suns will bring some confidence out of winning both matchups with the Bucks in the regular season, a lot has changed since then and both teams have found some of their best form over the past couple of weeks. In saying that, the Bucks are highly likely to be without Giannis Antetokounmpo through injury again, which gives the Suns the edge in Game 1, particularly on their home floor in front of a raucous Suns crowd that has been starved of success. We have the Suns getting the job done and covering the spread on Tuesday night.
