2019-20 NBA Eastern Conference Futures

We’ll kick things off with our pick to win the Eastern Conference before moving on to a couple of other interesting plays that we see as value. If you have any queries to our selections, feel free to hit us up on Twitter @TotalSportsPick.

Eastern Conference Championship

What a shake-up we’ve seen in the East. The headline move was 2x Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard leaving the Raptors, simultaneously removing them from title contenders, but there were a couple of other big moves that will change the conference completely.

For our best pick, we just can’t go past the 76ers at their price (+225). They were a good side last year and made it to the Conference Finals, but we expect them to be a great side this season. The addition of Al Horford is the most underrated pick up of the off-season. Him and Embiid will form the best defensive front-court in the league and will be perfectly suited to stop the other main threat in the East, Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks, in their tracks. They also get better in the back-court with Josh Richardson replacing JJ Reddick, which adds another fantastic dynamic on defense. Check out their depth chart below and explain to us how they aren’t the odds-on favourites.

Best Pick: Philadelphia 76ers +225 888sport

Now we move onto our value pick, which we believe is the best way to go to cover yourself if the 76ers somehow blow it up. Our best outsider is the Brooklyn Nets at odds of -1200.

How they’re at that price is absolutely beyond us. Yes, Kevin Durant is unlikely to feature in 2019-20, but even if he doesn’t there’s still an abundance of talent on the roster. A starting five of Irving – LeVert – Harris – Prince – Jordan, with the likes of Dimwiddie and Allen coming off the bench is a great team. If they can get in sync and avoid locker room problems that seem to follow Irving around, then there’s no reason why they can’t challenge the big dogs in the East.

Player Prop

There aren’t too many season player prop markets available at this point in the off-season. However, one that is available and that we’re a big fan of is Knicks rookie RJ Barrett to average over 16.5 points per game. Barrett has proven to be an elite scorer at all levels he’s played at and will the number one option on offense for the Knicks, even if it is his first season. He’ll see plenty of court time and will have the green light from day one. Jump on this while you can and thank us later.
