Dallas Cowboys at Chicago Bears
Thursday, 8.20pm, Soldier Field
The Cowboys and Bears will both be desperate for a win as they sit in two of the more competitive divisions in the NFL. Chicago in particular are facing an uphill battle to make the playoffs, sitting two games off the pace in the wildcard race.
As predicted, the Bears defense has been solid throughout the season so far. They have allowed just over 17 points per game, the fourth best mark in the NFL. Their problem this season has been on the other side of the ball. Behind struggling quarterback Mitch Trubisky, the Bears average just 17.7 points per game on offence, which is the sixth lowest total in the league.
The Bears put up 24+ points for just the third time this season in their win over Detroit on Thanksgiving Day. Trubisky has just a 13/7 touchdown interception ratio this season and is ranked 24th in the league in passer rating.
The under has hit in five of the last six Bears game but they’ll need to put up points if they want to stay competitive with a dynamic Cowboys offence this week. The Bears are just 3-9 against the spread this year and 2-4 against the spread at home.
The Cowboys have the same record as the bears at 6-6 but are in the lucky position of being in the NFC East, which has been an absolute joke thus far. The Eagles, Redskins and Giants have just 10 wins between them this season, and Dallas currently lead the division by just one game.
The Cowboys have had one of the best offenses in the league this season on the back of some fantastic play by Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliot. However, they have managed just 24 combined points in their last two games, losses to the Patriots in Week 12 and the Bills on Thanksgiving Day.
The Cowboys have been extremely up and down against the spread this season. They are 7-5 against the spread but 4-2 away from home.
Tough spread to call here with the Cowboys starting as 3 point favourites on the road. Liking the look of the under here though. The Cowboys offence has struggled over the past few weeks and in both teams last 12 combined game, the total is 8-4 in favour of the under.
