NBA Futures Betting Picks – Divisions
Pretty straight-forward division really. The Southeast is arguably the weakest of all six divisions and will likely only include one team over .500 in the Miami Heat. Led by perennial All-Star Jimmy Butler, the Heat should be coasting to the playoffs this year. They offloaded Hassan Whiteside, which will free up Bam Adebayo for a breakout year, they have some solid vets with Goran Dragic and Dion Waiters, and they have some potential upside with the likes of Herro and Jones. Not the sexiest of plays, but some nice value for a futures accumulator.
Pick: Miami Heat (-118 DraftKings)
Clearly the strongest division in the NBA is the Pacific. There’s three contending teams here with both LA ball clubs, as well as the Golden State Warriors. There’s also a playoff hopeful in the Kings and a young and exciting team with the Suns. Our pick to take it out simply has to be the Clippers. They were already a playoff team before they went and signed two of the best players in the league in Paul George and Kawhi Leonard. They’ve got five or six really good players and are built perfectly to win 60+ games during the regular season.
Pick: Los Angeles Clippers (-167 DraftKings)
This is the easiest of all divisions to pick and is definitely not worth a bet. The Bucks are unrivalled in the Central Division and will finish clear ahead of either the Pacers or the Pistons. Next.
Pick: Milwaukee Bucks (-1000 DraftKings)
The Houston Rockets are a fantastic regular season team and will be once again in 2019-20. They’ve upgraded in the point guard slot with Russell Westbrook coming in for Chris Paul and will once again be led by former MVP James Harden. Health is the biggest factor here, but if they have any luck at all then they should be to best team in this division by a mile. Once again, not much value here, but worth a go in a futures accumulator.
Pick: Houston Rockets (-278 DraftKings)
We’re really big on the 76ers this year and we can’t go past them in the Atlantic Division. Adding Al Horford is the most underrated move of the off-season and will help them take that next step. Ben Simmons has worked on his shot and will hopefully hit when he’s wide open and Joel Embiid will be in the MVP conversation if he’s healthy. All in all, they’re a really well-balanced team and will give the East a real shake this year if they can stay healthy.
Pick: Philadelphia 76ers (-162 DraftKings)
Finally, a competitive division with some value in the market. The Nuggets won this division fairly comfortably this year and while it’ll be tough to repeat, we believe they have what it takes. They’ll be running it back with pretty much the exact same team as last season, which means they’ll be able to hit the ground running on day one. We do like what the Jazz have done with their roster adding Conley and Bogdanovic, but they’ll take a while to work well as a unit. The Nuggets are our best divisional play and are well worth backing at over even odds.
Pick: Denver Nuggets (+125 DraftKings)
