Unfortunately for us Nikola Vucevic was a late out for the Magic on Wednesday, which left them extremely exposed for the likes of Aldridge and DeRozan to attack the paint. These types of things happen to everyone, the most important thing is we back ourselves in and get ready to bounce back tomorrow!
There are just two games on Thursday, which means there aren’t many opportunities for a solid pick, nor is there the possibility of a big parlay. So, today we’ve decided to go with a hybrid type play by taking an alternate spread from each game that will equal a $2 play. Good luck to everyone following!
Best Bet Thursday December 20th
Leg 1: Houston Rockets @ Miami Heat (8pm ET)
The first game of the day and the first leg of our parlay comes from Miami with the Heat hosting the Rockets. This will be the first of two meetings between these teams this season.
The Rockets come into this on the back of an impressive five game winning streak, which has propelled them in to the playoff picture for the firs time this season. The concern is however, that they’re coming into Miami on the second leg of a back-to-back. Their rotation is one of the smallest in the league, so quick turnarounds tend to really hurt D’Antoni’s Rockets.
The Heat come into this in a bit of form themselves having won each of their last two games. They’ve just wrapped up a season long six game road trip where they managed to snag four valuable wins, which is sure to give them a boost. That stretch has put them right back in the mix of things in the Eastern Conference, where they now sit in 10th position with a 13-16 record.
The Rockets come into this as slight favourites and that’s fair enough considering their winning streak. However, they do struggle to back up a busy schedule and will be coming into Miami with heavy legs. For this reason, we expect the Heat to make a contest out of it and at least keep it to single figures.
Leg 2: Dallas Mavericks @ Los Angeles Clippers (10:30pm ET)
The second and final game of the day and the second game of our parlay comes from Los Angeles where the Clippers are set to host the Mavericks. This will be the second meeting between these teams this season. The first was played in Dallas on December 2nd with the Mavericks coming out on top by four points.
The Mavericks have been a surprise packet this season and have put together a solid 15-14 record to sit in ninth position in the Western Conference standings, despite struggling on the road for the most part. The Mavericks have managed just two wins away from their home deck this season, which is equal for the worst mark in the league. They’ll need drastic improvement in that area to continue their push for a playoff spot.
The Clippers come into this in the worst form they’ve been in all season having lost each of their last four games. It’s been a tough stretch for the Clips, but they’ve had to take on a few handy teams during that span. Regardless of form, the Clippers are still in a nice position in the Western Conference standings, currently sitting in sixth with a 17-13 record.
Although the Clippers aren’t in the best of touch, they get a massive opportunity to get back on the winners list against a poor road team in the Mavericks. The Clippers are 9-4 at home this season and have the depth to cover a few outs, so we’re more than happy to take them here.
