Unfortunately, our streak had to end at some point and it came today with the Raptors blowing an 18-point lead to eventually win by three, which was short of our -7.5 line. We’ll look to get back onto the winners list today with a play we’re really comfortable with recommending. See our best bet for the big Friday slate below and as always, good luck to everyone following!
Best Bet Friday November 30th
Washington Wizards @ Philadelphia 76ers (7pm ET)
Preview
Today’s best bet comes from the Eastern Conference battle between the Washington Wizards and the Philadelphia 76ers at Wells Fargo Center at 7pm (ET). These teams are yet to play each other this season, but will play a four game regular season series. Last season the series was split at 2-2, with both teams defending home court on both occasions. The 76ers won their two home games by an average margin of 14, while the Wizards won theirs by an average of 10.
The Wizards have severely underwhelmed this season to the point that it’s been made public that everyone on their roster is on the trade table. They were tipped by many to potentially make the jump to a contender in the Eastern Conference, but have down quite the opposite as they find themselves in ninth position in the standings with a dismal 8-13 record. They will also be playing on the road for this one, where they have managed just two wins in 10 tries. All-stars John Wall and Bradley Beal have been putting up similar numbers to years prior, but the struggles on the defensive end is what’s letting them down.
The 76ers season got off to a sluggish start, particularly on the road, but they’ve regrouped and currently sit in third position in the Eastern Conference standings with a 15-8 record. The Jimmy Butler addition looks to have been a master stroke in the small sample size we have so far. The three stars in Simmons, Embiid and Butler have worked well together, with the latter having already made a big impact on close games. Joel Embiid is putting up MVP type numbers and will be right in the mix for the award if the Sixers can put up a solid record.
Prediction
The Wizards have been poor on the road this season, winning just two of their 10 games, while the 76ers have been devastating opposition teams at home and hold the best record in the league at 11-1.
With all the drama going on in the Wizards locker room at the moment it’s impossible to envision anything other than a 76ers win here. The line has opened at -7.5 for the Sixers, but we think they’re more than capable of covering that in this one.
