Best Pick: EPL Match Day 32
Liverpool vs Tottenham Hotspur (Sunday 11:30am ET)
Our best play from this weekend’s EPL action comes from the match of the round that sees Liverpool hosting Tottenham Hotspur. This fixture is scheduled to kick off at 11:30 am (Eastern Time) at the famous Anfield in Liverpool. It should be a cracking match between two of the three current top clubs in England’s top tier, with so much on the line for both teams.
Last time they played
Liverpool and Tottenham met earlier this season at Wembley Stadium on September 15th. The Red’s got off to a flying start that day through Gini Wijnaldum in the 39th minute, before Roberto Firmino doubled their advantage in the 54th. Tottenham would eventually get a goal through Erik Lamela in stoppage time, but it was little more than a consolation as the Red’s went home 2-1 winners. Important match statistics from that encounter are shown in the graphic below.
Liverpool come into this game off an important 2-1 win against Fulham last time out. It was the second consecutive win for the Red’s who had been struggling prior to that with four draws from six games. Due to Manchester City’s FA Cup duties which meant they had to postpone their Match Day 31 fixture, Liverpool regained top spot on the table for time being. They’re now two points clear of City, but the latter have a game in hand.
Tottenham’s season has gone to shambles over the past couple of weeks with injuries and costly defensive errors derailing any title aspirations they may have been hanging onto. The Spurs have picked up just one point from their last four league matches, losing to lowly teams in Southampton and Burnley during that stretch. They’re now 15 points off the lead and are in danger of slipping out of a Champions League place if they don’t turn their form around sooner rather than later.
All things considered; we see the Liverpool as the far better team in this fixture, particularly with them being the home team. They outplayed the Spurs in their previous meeting at Wembley and should have no problems replicating that result now that the Spurs have so many injuries. There isn’t too much meat on the bone in terms of the head to head markets, so we’ve opted to go with Liverpool in the race to two goals instead, which we still feel is a fairly safe play.
We’re back with out EPL parlay for Match Day 32. Our last parlay got up at decent odds (+335) without too much heartache, and we’re confident we’ve got another winner for our followers this weekend. First up, we’re going with Liverpool head to head against the Spurs for the reasons mentioned above. Secondly, we’re taking Leicester to defeat the Hammers at home, which we think is well over the odds. Finally, we’re going with Arsenal to take care of Newcastle. All in all, we feel that these three home teams all should take care of business relatively comfortably.
