NBA Saturday Picks
New Orleans Pelicans at Memphis Grizzlies
FedEx Forum, 8.00pm (ET)
It’s a great Western Conference battle here as the 1st placed Pelicans square off against the 3rd palced Grizzlies from 8.00pm in Memphis. The Pelicans recorded their 5th straight win on Friday night as they downed the 76ers by 11 points. Star guard CJ McCollum put up 42 points while big man Zion Williamson chipped in for 36 of his own in a high scoring game.
The Grizzlies will have the benefit of an extra days break here but will be coming off losses in two of their last three games to the Warriors and Suns. The did bounce back on Thursday night, however, with a strong performance against the Raptors on the road.
Finding it tough to split these two teams at the top of the Western Conference so opting for a total play. Like the unders here. This line seems a little high at 233 and in six of the last seven Grizzlies games, the under has hit.
Miami Heat at Utah Jazz
Vivint Arena, 9.00pm (ET)
The Heat have struggled on the road this season, maintaining just a 6-10 record away from Miami. They’ll be travelling again on NYE as they head to Utah to take on the Jazz. The Heat are coming off a loss to the Nuggets in a high scoring game on Friday night as they allowed a triple double to Nikola Jokic.
The Jazz started the season like a house on fire but they have fallen away to become more of the team that many expected them to be in the pre-season. They have lost 6 of their last 10 games but they still have a great reocrd at home at 12-5 on the season.
While the Jazz have been good at home, I think their odds heading into this game are a little skewed because of their good start to the season. They have failed to cover in their last two games and I think they’ll make that a third straight on Saturday night.
