NBA Playoffs Betting Picks: Sunday April 24th
Golden State Warriors at Denver Nuggets
Ball Arena, 3:30pm ET
The Warriors continue to dish up impressive performances in the first round of the playoffs and last game was no exception as they defeated the Nuggets 118-113. Game 3 was certainly a lot tighter than the first two games of the series, partly due to the Nuggets having homecourt advantage, but also due to it being an absolute must-win.
Game 3’s loss must’ve been a really tough one for the Nuggets to swallow considering they threw everything bar the kitchen sink at the Warriors. I expect it will be hard for them to find the necessary motivation to grind out another strong performance considering no team in NBA history has come back from a 3-0 deficit in the playoffs. All things considered, I expect the Warriors to defeat the Nuggets once again and complete the series sweep.
Miami Heat at Atlanta Hawks
State Farm Arena, 7pm ET
The Hawks showed the basketball world that they’re not going to be an easy pushover in this interesting playoff series, defeating the Heat by a single point in Game 3 on their home deck. They remain home for Game 4 of this series and have the opportunity to square things up. Trae Young was far, far better last time out with 24 points and eight assists, proving too much for the Tyler Herro-led Heat.
That Game 3 win would’ve done a world of good to the confidence of this young Hawks team, but it may also result in the Heat refocusing and making some necessary adjustments ahead of this all-important Game 4. For me, I’m expecting the latter to happen and for the veteran Heat to prove to be too good defensively in a big win against the Hawks, which will move them to 3-1 in the series.
Phoenix Suns at New Orleans Pelicans
Smoothie King Center, 9:30pm ET
Chris Paul made his experience and superstar play felt in Game 3 when he put the Devin Booker-less Suns on his back with 28 points and 14 assists, guiding them to a 114-111 win and a 2-1 lead in the series. Brandon Ingram tried his very best to will his Pelicans to a second-straight win over the Suns with 34 points on an efficient shooting clip, but had to settle for an honourable loss.
This has already proven to be a lot tighter of a series than many, including myself, predicted it to be, although the injury to Devin Booker in Game 2 certainly helped the Pelicans chances. In saying that, the Suns remain the better team in this matchup even without the 2x All-Star and are the deserving favorites to win on Sunday night and go up 3-1. I have them doing just that.
