NBA Betting Picks: Wednesday January 26th
Charlotte Hornets at Indiana Pacers
Gainbridge Fieldhouse, 7pm ET
The Hornets come into this matchup after a couple of poor losses in a row against Hawks and most recently the Raptors, both of which were by double-figure margins. Prior to that the Hornets had a stretch where they won seven of eight games and looked to be humming along very nicely.
The Pacers were poor last season but have been even worse in their current campaign to date. They’ve won just 17 of their 48 games and are seemingly getting worse as the season progresses. More recently, the Pacers were defeated by the Pelicans by four points, making it losses in 12 of their last 15 games.
This will be the third meetings between these teams this season, with the Hornets looking to go ahead 3-0 in the series after winning the first two by a combined 13 points. While their current form has left a bit to be desired, we still expect them to come out on top on Wednesday and cover the small spread.
Sacramento Kings at Atlanta Hawks
State Farm Arena, 7:30pm ET
The Kings will be playing the second leg of a road back-to-back on Wednesday after playing in Boston on Tuesday. Embarrassingly, the Kings were smacked by 53 points by the Celtics in what was one of the worst losses in franchise history. They’ve now lost nine of their last 11 games and have slipped to 6.5 games behind the #8 seed in the West.
The Hawks were in some horribly form in the back half of 2021 and were in serious danger of seeing their playoffs aspirations disappear. However, they’ve found some of their best form over the last fortnight in a bid to kickstart their campaign. The Hawks have won each of their last four games and all of those have come against fairly tough opposition.
Meeting for the second time this year and the final time for the season, the Hawks will be looking to sweep the mini season series against the Kings. They won the first game against them on the road by six points and are the far better form team of the two at the moment, which should allow them to win this one very comfortably.
Phoenix Suns at Utah Jazz
Vivint Arena, 10pm ET
The Suns continue to play great basketball and churn out win after win. They enter this slate on a seven game win streak and have only lost nine games on the season as a whole. The Suns have now moved three games clear of the Warriors at the top of the standings in the West and have the best record in the league.
The Jazz have earned the reputation over the past couple of years as one of the most consistent regular season teams, but that hasn’t been the case in recent weeks where they’ve really struggled. The Jazz have lost each of their last two and eight of their last 10 games and have slid down to fourth in the West as a result.
These teams will be playing each other for the second time in only a couple of days when they matchup on Wednesday. The Suns were too strong for the Jazz down the stretch in their meeting on Monday and when considering the contrasting form of these teams in recent times, we expect a similar result on Wednesday.
