NBA Picks – Wednesday, December 11th
Boston Celtics @ Indiana Pacers
7pm ET, Bankers Life Fieldhouse
We’ve got a great game on our hands to kick off NBA Wednesday with the Boston Celtics travelling to Indianapolis to take on the Indiana Pacers. This should be a cracking game between two of the strong fancies in the Eastern Conference. Both sides have gotten their season’s off to positive starts and will be looking to further their credentials with a win here. Action kicks off from 7pm at the Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
The Celtics come into this off an easy win over the Cavaliers last time out. They put points on the board early and were able to give some end of the bench guys a run in the fourth quarter as they finished up 22-point winners. That win made it four on the spin for the Celtics and an unbeaten 10-0 on their home deck. The Celtics have now jumped into second spot in the Eastern Conference with an overall record of 17-5 and will not hit the road for one game to take on the Pacers before returning home to take on the Sixers. On another note, Gordon Hayward made a successful return from injury, posting 14 points in limited minutes against the Cavaliers.
The Pacers are coming off a disappointing double digit loss at home to the Clippers in their most recent outing. They were no match for Paul George and co. who looked unstoppable on the offensive end at times. All is not lost for the Pacers however and they certainly won’t be the only team to lose to the Clippers at home this season. The Pacers come into this with a season record of 15-9, which is probably ahead of where everyone expected them to be considering the injuries to key players that they’ve had to deal with.
The Pacers have been a lot better at home (9-3) compared to on the road (6-6) this season, but they have been susceptible to losses against the top tier teams in the competition. The only two ‘elite’ teams they’ve played at home are the Bucks and the Clippers, both of whom have gotten the better of them pretty comfortably. In our opinion, the Celtics are in the company of that bunch and we see them as great value to continue the trend and deliver the Pacers another home loss.
Best Pick: Boston Celtics (-103 at BetRivers)
Los Angeles Clippers @ Toronto Raptors
7pm ET, Scotiabank Arena
The other clash we have our eye on is at the same time (7pm ET) and will see the Los Angeles Clippers cross the border to take on the Toronto Raptors. Both teams got their respective campaigns off to great starts and will be looking to claim a big scalp when they meet on Wednesday.
The Clippers are now just about at full health and are looking as dangerous as we all thought they’d be on both sides of the ball. They’ve now won four of their last five games with their lone loss coming against the league-leading Bucks on the road. Paul George and Kawhi Leonard have been fantastic when coexisting on the court and Lou Williams has been doing Lou Williams things.
The Raptors got their season off to a surprisingly successful start with no Kawhi Leonard in town, however, they’ve since fallen into a bit of a hole with four losses from their past five games. Kyle Lowry, Fred Van Vleet and others have all missed games in the past couple of weeks, which has taken a toll on their performance levels.
The Clippers are clearly the form team of the two, but even if both were at full strength you would still have to fancy the Clippers in this matchup. They may be on the road, but we can only see this one going one way – a Clippers win!
Next Best: Los Angeles Clippers (-115 at DraftKings)
