NBA Sunday Picks

Los Angeles Lakers at New York Knicks

Madison Square Garden, 7.30pm (ET)
LeBron James missed the Lakers Monday night clash against the Nets through rest but is likely to be back in the starting line-up on Tuesday night as they take on the Knicks. The Lakers were more competitive than the final margin suggested in their loss to the Nets on Monday night, even leading at points throughout the third quarter on the back of strong games from Russell Westbrook and Troy Brown Jr.
The Knicks have won just five of their last 10 games and currently sit in 7th place in the Eastern Conference. They are coming off a loss to the Nets on Saturday night, a disappointing to follow up to one of their best wins of the year, a three point thriller against the Celtics. The good thing for the Knicks at the moment is that they have no real injury concerns outside of center Mitchell Robinson.
The Knicks start as just two point favourites at home, which is the best indicator that LeBron will be playing. If he wasn’t that line would be somewhere out near the 8 mark. I think the Lakers are good value here. We’ll get a strong performance from the superstar forward, who is close to breaking the all-time scoring mark and will want to put on a show at MSG.

New Orleans Pelicans at Denver Nuggets

Ball Arena, 10.00pm (ET)
The 2nd game of the TNT double header sees the Palicans travelling to Denver to take on the Nuggets from 10.00pm. The Nuggets have the best record in the Western Conference at the moment at 34-16. Nikola Jokic has been in and out of the line-up with injury and rest recently, but should be in for the clash against the Pels, making the Nuggets strong 8 point favourites.
The Pelicans will be without their own star big man Zion Williamson, who has missed the last month of action due to a hamstring injury. They have, however, got Brandon Ingram back in the line-up after a toe injury, who will provide some desperately needed help in the scoring department.
Like the Nuggets at home here. They hare a league best 23-4 in their own stadium and 15-11-1 agains the spread in those games. On the contrart, the Pels are just 10-15 against the spread on the road.
