Glover Teixeira earnt the title of the oldest UFC champion when he beat Jan Blachowicz the last time he entered the Octagon and now faces rising Czech sensation Jiri Prochazka in the UFC 275 main event. In the co-main Valentina Shevchenko looks to defend her Flyweight title for the seventh time when she faces Talia Santos and we have a rematch of one of the greatest fights of all time when Weili Zhang and Joanna Jedrzejczyk once again lock horns. We take a look at my three best UFC bets on the card below.
UFC 275 Betting Picks
Glover Teixeira vs Jiri Prochazka
Doubt Teixeira at your own peril. The Brazilian has gone into his last three bouts as an underdog and once again is the underdog for this title clash. The route to victory for Teixeira is rather simple, wear on Prochazka and drag him to the mat. The Czech samurai might be a devastating striker but he has plenty of flaws. He he leaves his chin up, his cardio hasn’t always held up earlier in his career and his ground game is most likely still underdeveloped. Despite saying that it isn’t like Teixeira doesn’t have glaring weaknesses. He may be in great condition but I don’t know a man whose chin improves as he progresses into his forties.
While I was going to go out on a limb originally and back Teixeria to cause another upset, I just think the smarter option is this fight not lasting long. If the Brazilian fails to get it down to the mat, he will go to sleep and if he gets it down with time to work, I think he puts the Czech to sleep. So back the under 2.5 rounds.
Valentina Shevchenko vs Talia Santos
I will keep it short and sweet, Valentina Shevchenko is as dominant a champion as there is. She has won her last eight fights and defended the Flyweight throne six times, earning four stoppages in the process.
Talia Santos is a solid prospect but this is about six fights too soon. She will just get brutalised wherever this fight goes. I think Santos is more likely to not get choked to sleep though so I will back Shevchenko to knock her clean out or for there to be a mercy stoppage.
Ramazan Emeev vs Jack Della Maddalena
Jack Della Maddalena is a top prospect out of Australia and one that has a massive future. The knockout artist earnt his UFC shot on the back of a solid Contender Series performance and some devastating finishes on the Australian regional circuit.
Ramazan Emeev is a solid fighter but needs his wrestling to be on point and I just don’t think he can attempt takedowns that aren’t in super tight without getting knocked clean out.
I am backing this as Della Maddalena’s coming out party to the world. My tip is he knocks the Russian out cold, likely early.
