Iowa Online Sports Betting – Legal IA Sportsbooks

IA Online Sports Betting - Legal Iowa Sportsbooks

Is Sports Betting Legal in Iowa?

Yes.

Iowa Governer Kim Reynolds signed a comprehensive bill into law in mid-2019 and on August 15th of the same year, sportsbooks in the state started taking their first bets. Mobile wagering and betting on collegiate sport is allowed in the state of Iowa, while operators must pay a $45,000 licensing fee and there is a 6.75% tax on gambling revenue.

One quirk with the laws about opening an online account in the state of Iowa is that customers need to physically go to an outlet to verify their identity after registering for an account. After that, they will be free to bet online.

This was removed in the early parts of 2021, which will allow customers to sign up for an account online.
